Samenvatting
Scarlet Hood en het Boze Woud is een verhaalgedreven avonturenspel. Als Scarlet moet je zeven dagen van ongeluk opnieuw beleven en een aantal beslissingen nemen om je Munchkin groep veilig uit het Boze Woud te krijgen. Ervaar de vertakkende gevolgen van je beslissingen. Het belangrijkste is dat je jezelf onderdompelt in een betoverend verhaal vol fantastisch avontuur!
Verhaallijn
Het is een nieuwe dag in het rijk van Glome. Zonlicht kruipt over het land en onthult een weelderige, levendige wereld vol magie, schoonheid en artefacten van een mysterieuze voorbije cultuur. De Munchkin noemen dit land hun thuis, maar ze delen het met de Zeven Heksen, Tinnen Ridders, pratende beesten, angstaanjagende monsters en handelskaravanen.
Scarlet ontwaakt in dit vreemde land nadat ze door een tornado is overvallen. Door een reeks ongelukkige gebeurtenissen wordt ze belast met het in veiligheid brengen van een onfortuinlijke Munchkin-troep door het Boze Woud. Eén probleem: de chagrijnige Zwarte Heks, LeFaba, heeft de gewoonte om reizigers die door haar bos omrijden te verbranden. Scarlet is dan wel slecht uitgerust, maar door een vloek beleeft ze dezelfde dag opnieuw. Kan onze jonge padvinder de mantel van de Rode Heks overnemen en de moed opbrengen om het onheil dat haar te wachten staat te overwinnen?

A gorgeous visual style, an emotive heroine, and a modern time-looping take on The Wizard of Oz with a dash of Little Red Riding Hood thrown in make Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood an endearing fairy tale treat.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood. Wonderfully storybook-esque, with a surprisingly moving story, and full of great humor, Scarlet Hood is a unique experience. If I had to nitpick, I’d say that some of the puzzles are perhaps a little too esoteric, but none of them are truly unsolvable. With multiple endings offering plenty of replay value, there’s a lot to recommend for Scarlet Hood.
It may say Wicked, but it's not always wicked. Devespresso Games' attempt in bringing fairy tales to life in their own way is an admirable, if not entirely original effort. With a solid array of puzzles and poppy visuals, there's enough to like throughout that will eagerly please those fond of Point & Click-likes of yesteryear. Though the choice to forego Early Access may come across in the game's technical details, with some rough patches performance-wise being noticeable. With other features feeling underwhelming and perhaps a lack of solid identity, this modern tale is best served for those fresh to the genre.
Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood is a solid adventure game. It features gorgeous art and intuitive puzzles with the curious concept of multiple paths depending on your actions. A few mechanics could definitely be refined with added optimization, but fans of the genre will easily have fun during this adventure as Scarlet.
