Lots to do and the fact that it actually has a genuine story instead of just simply plotting you down on a farm and letting you wander around. Each character has their own personal quest when you befriend (with a few exceptions) and each have their own unique personalities. I strongly suggest checking this game out.

They really, really heavily copied Stardew Valley though...so much so, that I think Stardew Valley could probably win in a lawsuit.. It plays well on the Switch, except it always crashes after about an hour or two of play, which isn't too bad, since it autosaves after every day. The load times aren't too long, which makes me think that they majorly patched it this year, since all the really bad reviews are from last year. I really like the way they implemented mining. I found mining in this game really relaxing.The map is giant, but there's a lot of nothingness outside the town.

The updates to fix things are few and far between and it doesn't get as much loving as the PC version from what I've seen. I quite enjoy that there's a huge emphasis on building rather than farming. Some of the tutorials or instructions on how to use things could be better but if you stick with it, it is really enjoyable. There can be lag within it but I find if I turn off the game and load it back up it seems to fix most lag issues. It's a very chill and relaxing game. Perfect when you want to wind down from a stressful day.

The main thing that I want to point out in this review is that many of the issues talked about in the other reviews were launch problems that have been patched out. It has been improved post launch. I have never gotten stuck or had a game breaking bug. The worst thing that happened to me was that my house disappeared once -- once I managed to find where the door should be I was still able to enter it.So yes, it's not perfect. But behind the few glitches that still remain is a wonderful game. If you're willing to look past them, you'll have a wonderful experience, with crafting, a large world to explore, and the best mining I've experienced in a game in this genre. It's simply fun. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, and do not regret my purchase at all.

Like all cartoony life sims, there's a bit of grind to this game, but the developers do their best to keep this at a minimum and give you plenty to do while you're waiting for something to grow. The added RPG/Adventure elements are a welcome addition to the formula for those who'd like to mix up the farming and mining with a bit of swordplay. At the end of the day it's not going to challenge the likes of Zelda in the realm of hack 'n slash dungeon crawling and doesn't quite live up to happier memories of Harvest Moon's Gamecube era heyday. I see myself dropping back into my farm/workshop every now and then, but long-term, Portia is not going to take up much of my titular Time.

Once you start the game grabs you and continues to motivate you to keep on doing tasks and expand your 'home'. The social aspect of the game could have been a bit more fleshed out and a dozen or so hours into the game it might become a bit repetitive but not enough to ruin the fun. It is a nice and colorful world that is fun to explore. If there is anything to nag about it is probably the animal/monster design. Somehow it feels completely out of place. But for what it's worth, the loot they drop makes sense. Definitely a fun and addictive game to play!

I’m here to speak for the gamers who want to sit down and play a game for a while and actually relax and enjoy their time. If you’re one of those types of gamers, then this game is for you. Things take time to build, things take time to explore, and the game does progress slowly. With that said, it allows you to actually relax and play at your own leisure. The way the game plays out is like how Rune Factory 4 was.. Crafting is a must, and so is gaining experience while exploring and fighting. You also have to have patience and if you have no patience, then this game is absolutely not for you. I’ve always enjoyed games that allows you to help towns people, craft, build items, and allows you to build and expand on your home. This game does all the above and for me is a solid 8.5 out of 10. The reason why it’s not a perfect 10 is because I don’t believe any game is truly a perfect 10 and will always have a flaw. I want to be able to save when I want such as the middle of the day, but I can't as I don't want to sleep and have my whole day gone.But I've often had to sleep and save in the middle of a day as I had to close the game as had other things to do.I was nearing 10pm in game time and my game crashed so I had to start the day all over again.Over 200 hours and the game has only crashed a couple of times, but that is still too much, as you lose all that play and have to start the day all over again as there is no saving in between which is a major flaw. And I have the recommended specs for the game.Also have to be careful not to die to some bosses as if you do it's game over and you have to start the day all over again.The game is mostly good but I feel needs more polish. NPC's should have winter outfits and change their clothes with each season.I think characters could be deeper and there are things that feel wrong and don't match the character. Such as a character that has a usually sweet personality can sound really mean in a play date. I order something they don't like to eat and the response sounds nasty and bratty, they should be grateful someone is paying for the food.And if you aren't very good at a game like the balloon shooting game, they ridicule you.Crafting is a bit grindy, not a huge problem as you can do other things instead of waiting.Such as ruin digging, fishing, socialising etc.And you can build multiple forges so you can stockpile ingots and other materialsEven with the problems I like this game a lot and it's good to have a nice lengthy game as I prefer games that I can play for 50 hours plus.I would rate this game a 7 and not 8 because of very limited save and problems of crashing and overall needs more polish.

This game is an unfinished buggy mess that lacks any polish whatsoever. There are thousands of simple things (no animation for going out of bounds, crazy lag, 2 minute load times for going literally anywhere, broken ui, frame rate plummeting, I could go on and on) that amount to this being utterly unplayable. Shows a lot of potential and I might consider replaying if all of these are fixed, but otherwise it's a no go. Reviews that gave it an average rating had to have only played it for 30 minutes or so, as a lot of its glaring issues amount to more and more over time. The studio should ashamed for putting something of this poor quality out there, and I truly hope they will make up for it with a proper port.

Though the content and concept of My Time at Portia is sublime, having the potential to enslave your attention for months to come, the Switch port lacks the polish and love it so desperately deserves. Should quality of life fixes be implemented, this will certainly be worth sinking your time into. For now, not so much.

My Time at Portia is a beautiful, relaxing experience. With the charming art style and plenty of activities to go through, players will easily lose themselves in the game's pleasant setting for hours and hours.

My Time at Portia is a slow game, to the point that digging around in the mines or waiting for bronze plates to smelt can be mind-numbing. But in a way its builds are kind of like knitting; repetitive and slow but visibly building towards a satisfying, tangible product. Plus, there's enough surprise in the living world, the creepy mines and dungeons and the wide fields to keep things from getting too stale for too long.

Despite that some aspects of the game are either overwhelming, or, not wholly refined, My Time at Portia is a solid addition to the life simulation genre. There’s heaps of gameplay depth to soak up and enjoy, with no shortage of variation present to keep things fresh and entertaining. Whilst it pales in comparison to the likes of Animal Crossing, it certainly offers plenty of distinction and gets enough right to stand in a spotlight entirely of its own.

Every action feels very sluggish, even in the menus and inventory. You can press a button and in many situations wait several seconds before getting any response. When items drop, they sit at your feet for several seconds before they get added to your inventory. Loading times aren't too bad once you've started the game but that's a small plus when everything else in the game takes forever to respond!It sounds like the game runs smoother on other systems, so I'd be interested in playing it elsewhere (if I was willing to pay for it again...).Avoid the Switch version; it's not worth playing on Switch in its current state.

Thankfully my play of, My Time At Portia didn't get dull nor repetitive, the game is meant to be played at a relaxing pace it makes the gameplay seem even more impressive (For some reason Animal Crossing comes to mind as a slow paced game that no matter how long I played stayed fresh and fun while retaining that relaxation that's internationally there. The gameplay features a host of different tasks for you to undertake and the variety within these tasks is extremely addictive and make the replay ability quite high. There’s also a number of different features in play all at once. Once I got past the task of learning these different features I felt I was accomplishing something along my time with My Time At Portia. Accompanying your experience is a solid set of stories that tie well into the gameplay and exploring the world always feels fun and makes you want to keep playing. Other than needing to be somewhat persistent to learn all the controls and how to approach the different tasks you find that any issues become obsolete in your time with the game. In summary, My Time At Portia has an abundance of charm and draws you in throughout your time in Portia (pun intended) and if you have just a small interest in games of this genre then I fully recommend that you give it a try, because it delivers a unique and enjoyable experience from start to finish. It's nice to see games of different style emerge and be successful with new approaches, and it's easy to give My Time At Portia a recommendation to add it to your Xbox gaming library.

It’s the perfect post-Sekiro experience, with a cast of wonderful characters, and a beautifully picturesque world with tons of activities to occupy your time. Sure, it’s very much like Stardew Valley, but the emphasis on engineering over farming makes it its own beast. The loops might not be as alluring as Stardew’s, but it’s game that you won’t regret playing, and will satisfy your inner soul.

This is a game with a ton of content, but too much time is spent in less rewarding downtime or grinding for materials in environments that simply aren’t that fun. It’s obvious that My Time at Portia would love to be both a dream game for the building/crafting fans as well as offer a substantial narrative. The slow pace of the former undercuts the momentum of the latter but My Time at Portia does offer a legitimately different variation on what has become a pretty formulaic genre.
