Samenvatting
Max Payne 2 is een third-person shooter, waarin de speler de rol van Max Payne op zich neemt, maar in een paar levels ook als Mona Sax speelt. Aanvankelijk is het wapen van de speler een 9mm pistool. Naarmate ze vorderen, krijgen spelers toegang tot andere wapens, waaronder andere handwapens, shotguns, machinepistolen, assault rifles, sniper rifles, en handgegooide wapens. Om het spel vooruit te helpen, wordt de speler verteld wat het volgende doel is door middel van Max' interne monoloog, waarin Max herhaalt wat zijn volgende stappen moeten zijn.
Verhaallijn
In Max Payne 2 bestuurt de speler Max Payne, een voormalig DEA-agent van de NYPD en voortvluchtig voor de moord op zijn beste vriend en collega-agent Alex. Twee jaar na de gebeurtenissen van het eerste spel heeft Max zijn naam gezuiverd en is nu een detective bij de NYPD. Hij komt weer samen met Mona Sax, die hij in het vorige spel heeft ontmoet, en samen proberen ze een samenzwering van dood en verraad op te lossen, waarbij ze de Inner Circle in het midden van alles vinden.

Rockstar Games took Remedy's franchise and developed Max Payne 2, and boy, did they do a job well done.They improved everything in this game;Rockstar Games took Remedy's franchise and developed Max Payne 2, and boy, did they do a job well done.They improved everything in this game; Graphics, Sound Design, Animations and so on...Much like the first game, this game is WAY too outstanding for it's time, Half Life 2 has one of the best graphics of 2004 but I think Max Payne 2 might just beat it in the slightest pixel.They added physics to this game and WOW it works very well and it actually adds a lot to the game and it is very helpful, like pushing an explosive barrel towards an enemy and then blowing it up, or if a dead enemy's weapon gets stuck in some edge just shoot it a couple times for it to fall in your hands.This game is outstanding and I just can't tell which game is better the 1st Max Payne or the 2nd one, they are both just perfect.But still, I wonder what would of happen to the series if Remedy kept making the games... Hmmm... Max's face from the first game in the third one...

Do the math, it comes to some 4 or 5$ per hour, cheaper than the latest Hollywood drivel (and you can sell a game back). It was a good story, great voice acting and beautiful artwork, awesome action. Can't wait for 3!
A competent, if not particularly impressive, sequel. It makes some minor technological improvements, but packages them with major new flaws in the storytelling and gameplay.
The action, graphics, and gameplay are all tight and very satisfying. However, the somewhat hazy story and confusing relationships make some parts of the game less than stellar. An extremely short completion time might also turn off some gamers.
