Samenvatting
Battle Academy is een tactisch strategiespel boordevol actie waarin je het bevel moet nemen over een selecte groep eenheden en ze door gevechten moet leiden op de vele verschillende fronten van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Als commandant moet je echte gecombineerde wapens gebruiken om de overwinning veilig te stellen. Dit betekent dat je hinderlagen moet leggen om de vijandelijke troepen te verrassen, ze met onderdrukkend vuur moet vastzetten, vijandelijke pantsers moet flankeren voor een maximaal effect en, indien nodig, de vijand moet aanvallen om sterke punten te veroveren. In sommige gevallen zul je ook toegang hebben tot krachtige off map artillerie en luchtsteun met de capaciteit om de vijandelijke verdediging te verzwakken of zelfs een vijandelijke aanval te stoppen. Tegelijkertijd moet je goed letten op het moreel van je eigen troepen en verkenningseenheden gebruiken om vijandelijke hinderlagen of flankaanvallen op te sporen.

Overall, it just feels too casual, too cartoony. On a tablet that can be forgiven, but as a PC game it seems more than a little limiting.

I also liked the comic book storytelling in between missions.

At last a game that teaches you strategy while steadily amping up the difficulty level. The graphics are surprisingly detailed yet fun at the same time. There is a huge variety of missions especially if you get the complete pack. There is enough complexity to also keep more experienced wargamers interested. I was really surprised at how good this game is. My only negative would be the rather steep price especially for the complete game, given the fact that for all intents and purposes it is a souped up Ipad port. However it is done really well and if you are willing to shell out you won't be disappointed and are in for hours of replayable fun!
