Base One is een ruimtestation simulator met survival en RPG mechanica.

Verhaallijn
Overwin een reeks beproevingen in een verhaalgedreven campagne tegen een achtergrond van sociaal-politiek drama waar speciale belangen en de machtigen veel te winnen hebben bij de laatste grens. Breng de behoeften van elk station in evenwicht terwijl je nieuwe technologie onderzoekt en ontsluit die het succes en de levensvatbaarheid van de menselijke aanwezigheid in de regio op lange termijn garandeert.
Rust stations uit met zonnepanelen, koppelbaaien, levensinstandhoudingssystemen en meer. Beheers apparaten zoals sonde-lanceerinrichtingen om voorwerpen te verzamelen in het vacuüm van de ruimte - en houd het moreel van de bemanning hoog met essentiële gemakken zoals sofa's en de altijd bruikbare toilet-douche.

Even though the idea of a survival space base sim with RPG elements sounded very promising, Base One is filled with bugs and problematic design choices and lacks any spirit or invention beyond what was necessary. In a world where you can play RimWorld or Space Haven, there is literally no reason to invest your money nor time into this game.
Base One is a mostly solid game that never impresses. The story and writing are not a big part of the management genre but here they are so bland that they actively hurt the experience. Managing a space station is a chore when the narrative gives me no reason to look forward to new objectives and cool interactions. The game also feels limited by the fact that everything happens on one plane. A futuristic base will need to use space in complex ways and three dimensions to truly maximize efficiency and create a structure that can be easily defended or moved. Base One is too conservative in its take on the future, its approach to mechanics, and its story to create an experience that can keep gamers engaged with the campaign in the long term. The custom game mode offers ways to engage with all core mechanics in a variety of player-defined scenarios.
Base One is a good survival RPG game set in space. There’s a level of strategy involved when it comes to crew selection, tech research, and building out your station. It feels like some areas could use a bit more attention, particularly the voice acting and audio, but otherwise, the controls and the core game loop feel good.
